As I previously mentioned, my wife surprised me with a box of 1994 Ted Williams Card Company Baseball cards. I was very pleased with the set that they put out in ’93, so expectations were high. While they didn’t quite live up to the previous year’s release, I enjoyed busting the box of cards, putting together a base set and three inserts.
While I will take a much closer look at this set in later posts, I wanted to write a quick post about a card that surprisingly made their way into my collection:
# 62, Thurman Munson
I usually don’t keep Munson cards, but opening this box afforded me the opportunity to pull three of these cards. One of them went into the base set, and I decided to keep one for my collection of catchers that changed the game. I will say that this isn’t a great image for a baseball card. I have seen much better pictures of Munson, while this one makes him look frumpy. Still, he was a tremendous catcher, even if he did play for the Evil Empire.
