2013 Topps Series One-Jarrod Saltalamacchia

I have really missed seeing Saltalamacchia in a Red Sox uniform.  I know that the Sox have moved on, having called up Christian Vazquez earlier this season.  But I miss “Salty,” and the Sox really could have used him this year.  Here is a look at his card from ’13 Topps Series One.

#301, Jarrod Saltalamacchia

I am pleased with this card.  Topps did a great job choosing this image.  Shown in his catcher’s gear, Salty appears to be throwing out a runner, or at least attempting to.  And you have to love his hair.  It reminds me of the ’70s.

Definitely a cool card. I know the Red Sox could have used Salty’s offensive numbers at times this year, but I’m excited about Vasquez going forward. At this point I’m sort of embracing the youth movement and looking forward to having guys like Vasquez, Bogaerts, Betts and even Castillo (though he’s a little older) in the lineup next year.
