1974 Topps- Carlton Fisk and Johnny Bench

I recently acquired what may the perfect card.  From the 1974 Topps set, it commemorates the two starting catchers at the 1973 All Star game: Carlton Fisk and Johnny Bench

#331, Carlton Fisk and Johnny Bench

Ok, it’s not perfect; there are elements that could be tweaked: catcher’s gear or action photos would be nice.  However, it remains one of my favorite vintage cards.  Pictured on the card are two of the greatest catcher’s of all-time.  While I usually don’t care for multi-player cards, this one gets my approval.

What makes this card so great is that it foreshadows another event wherein these two would meet again: 1975 World Series.  Just one year after this card came out, these two would battle it out in what may be the greatest World Series ever.
