2010 Topps Series 2-Jarrod Saltalamacchia

Here, for the first time, is a card featuring Jarrod Saltalamacchia, one of my favorite current catchers.

Currently, Salty is playing for the Marlins, but for a time he was the backstop for the Boston Red Sox.  During those few years, his play earned my respect. He came to the Red Sox in July of 2010, so this card shows him in his Rangers uniform: 2010 Topps Series 2.

#568, Jarrod Saltalamacchia

This is the Gold 59 Years of Collecting parallel numbered 897/2010.  I don’t have a lot to say about this card.  The design is decent enough, and the image is one that doesn’t bother me.  Salty does have some pop to his bat, so using a picture of him batting is a good choice.  Overall, I am pleased with this card.

Of all of the catchers that I collect, I have the fewest of his cards, so pulling a numbered card, even one like this, is still cool.

Nice card, I was kind of bummed to see him leave the Sox for the Marlins. Always thought he played the position well in Boston and was more than sufficient at the plate too.
