My local card shop, Collector’s Den, is moving in a new direction, and will no longer be active in the sports cards hobby. While I am upset by that news, I am thrilled with the owner’s generosity. He is trying to clear shelf space in his shop, which means he is practically giving away singles.
Over the next few days, I will post about the stack of cards that I brought home with me.
First up, is a collection of 2013 Topps Triple Threads that I picked up with some other collectors in mind.
Rickey Henderson and Yu Darvish Amethyst parallels, numbered to 43/650 and 119/650, respectively. Both of these players are highly collectible, and since I live in Texas, I get to hear about Darvish all the time. Neither of them is on the list of players that I collect, but I know some individuals who will want them.
Here is an Ernie Banks Emerald parallel, numbered 119/250. Banks is another Hall of Famer that should be in my collection but is not. However, I recognize his importance to the game and know that he is one of the best shortstops of all time. I have a Cubs fan in mind that would love this card.
Lastly is a Joe Morgan Gold Parallel numbered 20/99. Morgan, one of the greatest 2nd basemen of all time, is on the fringe of players that I collect. I am a huge Reds fan and grew up listening to stories of the Big Red Machine. So when I saw this card, I couldn’t pass it up.
